Dr. Manoj Moses
27 Aug 1968 – 26 Jun 2024

Dr. Manoj Moses and his wife, Mrs. Salome Manoj, played a pivotal role in founding the ministry, Dayspring Lamps. With his encouragement and support, Mrs. Salome embraced the mission of spreading God’s love, hope, and comfort to those in need. Originally a medical laparoscopic surgeon in India, Dr. Manoj relocated to Singapore, where he established Intouch InnoPharm Pte Ltd in 2017 and later launched Dayspring Lamps Ltd in 2021.
Dr. Manoj was a unique individual, known for his humility, compassion, and pure-hearted nature. His warmth and moral support were a constant source of comfort to anyone in distress.
“What I am eager for is that all the Christians there will be filled with love that comes from pure hearts, and that their minds will be clean and their faith strong. I Timothy 1:5”.
A philanthropist at heart, he provided free medical services to the underprivileged and generously contributed to non-profit organizations and orphanages. Dr. Manoj Moses had a remarkable ability to connect with the younger generation, effortlessly engaging with children and youth. Passionate about mentoring, he firmly believed that a properly guided young person would stay on the right path in life. He consistently encouraged young people to seek opportunities and turn to God for direction. Whether playing with them, offering counsel, or inspiring them, his guidance profoundly impacted many, helping them find their purpose and overcome emotional challenges. As a father, he instilled self-respect and dignity in his children, nurturing them into strong, independent individuals.

Dr. Manoj was a voracious reader with a vast knowledge spanning a wide range of subjects, including sports, politics, spirituality, science, history, and current affairs. His engaging personality and insightful conversations made him a cherished companion, and his friends greatly valued his company. He shared a close bond with everyone who knew him, earning their deep love and admiration. Dr. Manoj was not only loved but also deeply respected by his friends, colleagues, and cousins, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Despite his affluent background, he remained humble and unpretentious, known for his simplicity and his signature gentle smile that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He lived as a true embodiment of the scripture:
” But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves…” James 1:22-25
Just minutes before his passing, Dr. Manoj shared the below Bible verses in WhatsApp with his friends and family, leaving a legacy rooted in character and faith.

His life was shaped by a heritage of community service. His paternal grandfather, Late Shri M. William, a lawyer hailing from Marthandam, Tamil Nadu and three-time MLA in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, very close with K. Kamaraj (ex-CM of Tamil Nadu), worked to uplift the people of Kanyakumari district. His maternal grandfather, Dr. P.H. Daniel, transformed a plantation hospital in Valparai into a fully equipped 100-bed facility and founded a trade union to support plantation workers. Dr. Daniel also authored the book Red Tea, later adapted into the Tamil film Paradesi. Dr. Manoj’s father, Dr. W.E. Moses, was a pioneer in urology and instrumental in establishing the Urology Department at Coimbatore Medical College.
Russian writer Leo Tolstoy once pondered, “Why should I live? Why should I do anything? Is there in life any purpose which the inevitable death that awaits me does not undo and destroy?” In contrast, the life of Dr. Manoj Moses provides a resounding answer to these existential questions. Though his time on earth was cut short, his unwavering faith, compassion, and service to others have left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness continues to inspire, and we are confident that those reading about his remarkable journey will find encouragement and purpose in his story.
“The greatest legacy one can pass on to the next generation is not money or material possessions, but rather a legacy of character and faith.” – Billy Graham, American evangelist
Dr. Manoj Moses has left behind a legacy that we Dayspring Lamps family is committed to preserving, praying that it continues to inspire young minds.
Journey of Faith & Early Life
As described in Ephesians 1:4, “God knew Manoj before the foundation of the world was laid,” and his life reflected a divine purpose from a young age. Raised in a family devoted to faith, Manoj regularly attended church, conventions, and prayer meetings. His parents shared the stories of religious figures, instilling spiritual values early on.
Manoj spent his early childhood in Chennai, India completing his education up to the 5th standard. Even as a child, he was known for his loving, kind-hearted, and empathetic nature. His concern for others often stood out. One notable instance occurred during his 3rd standard at Bains School, where he witnessed a teacher hitting a student on the head with a ruler. Manoj immediately voiced his disapproval, explaining that such an action could cause harm. The incident was brought to the headmistress, who, after speaking with other students, confirmed Manoj’s account.
Manoj’s courage and sense of justice were evident even in challenging situations. On one occasion, while playing outside, he noticed a man chasing children. It turned out the man was drunk and had been abusing his own kids. Manoj had intervened, warning the man to stop, which enraged him and led to a confrontation. Despite his young age, Manoj stood up for what was right, demonstrating his innate bravery.
After moving to Coimbatore, Manoj’s spiritual journey deepened. His maternal grandfather, a close associate of their church’s senior pastor, Rev. Peter Arumainayagam, and missionary Sister Lydia, had a profound influence on him. Both individuals patiently answered Manoj’s many questions about faith, fostering his growing thirst for Christ. Their open-mindedness and willingness to engage with his doubts left a lasting impression.
Even as a child, Manoj showed a deep sense of prayer and faith. He would write down his prayer requests and place them in the Bibles of his mentors. His belief that prayers were like eggs hatching into life symbolized his faith that God would answer them.
Manoj’s spiritual curiosity was evident in everyday life. When he asked if it was sinful to watch cricket matches, Pastor Arumainayagam advised him to attend church first and enjoy the match afterward. Such interactions shaped his understanding of faith and life.

Manoj’s encounter with the lives of missionaries, including Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence Livesey and Mr. and Mrs. Crooks, founders of Zion Assemblies of God Church, Coimbatore greatly inspired him. The missionaries’ commitment to their work and faith motivated him to stay grounded and develop strong spiritual values.
A pivotal moment in Manoj’s faith journey occurred during a seminar by Morris Cerullo in Bangalore. Although he was underage, Manoj prayed fervently to attend. To everyone’s surprise, he was allowed entry and was seated close to the altar. During the call to prayer, Manoj stepped forward, returning with joy, declaring, “Jesus saved me!” and went on to ask everyone around “Are you saved!?”
His experiences as a child, including witnessing his grandfather build a church in a village and accompanying him and his father on visits to provide free medical aid to the underprivileged, further shaped Manoj’s desire to become a medical missionary.
Manoj’s faith remained steadfast as he grew. His deep connection with God and unwavering belief in the power of prayer became the cornerstone of his life, influencing his journey as a doctor, father, and man of faith.
